Carlson 2014 running inside acad2013. I have an old project in CA on NAD27. It's in state plane zone 7. When I go to drawing setup and select NAD27, it offers me CA zones 1 thru 6, but no 7. Corpscon lists zone 7 in NAD27 but not NAD83. What to do...

There is no zone 7 in NAD83 but there is a zone 7 in NAD27, kinda like Montucky which has two zones in NAD27, but only one in NAD83 (big mistake IMHO)

Zone VII (Los Angeles County by its loathsome) is now part of Zone V.

Might as well be part of Mars for your purposes.

Perhaps I misunderstand the problem but it seems to me straightforward. All transformations can be performed using NGS toolkit elements.

Concert NAD 27 state plane coordinates to geodetic (latitude and longitude). Transform from NAD 27 to NAD 83 using NADCON. Convert new NAD 83 coordinates to desired SPC.

Make appropriate notes about differences in zones between NAD 27 and NAD 83.

Of course you will need to know which version of NAD 83 is appropriate: NAD 83(1986) the original (non-GPS version) or subsequent HARN or adjustments e.g. NAD 83 (2011).

HTH,

DMM
