Hello,

I have three surfaces: eg, design, as-built. When calculating neatline volumes, I am not 100% sure in which order I have to select the surfaces. Anyone who have used this 3 surfaces volume call willing to shine some light on this procedure? Contractor is paid to neatline only.

I'm not entirely sure if the Three Triangulation Surface Volumes routine will get you what you need.

If I understand your need correctly, would the Two Triangulation Surface Volumes routine between Existing Ground and the As-Built surface but with an Inclusion/perimeter boundary of your neat-line get you the needed volume?

The neatline is a actually a 3D surface, the standard two surfaces with inclusive boundary does not do the trick on this one.

To make things a bit more complicated, the situation is not a cut (like on the example in the help menu with a rock strata) but a fill. So I am not too sure if the routine is designed for this scenario.

The best way to figure it out is to create 3 simple surfaces from 3D lines that represent your situation and test the routine. Some times falling back to the tried and true method of average end areas is the best.

I agree with you - AEA is pretty solid when it comes to QC on volume calcs.
