What is the best way to save a dwg in Carlson to an earlier version so the "AEC" boxes become linework?

I now have Carlson and I have this dwg file when I open in Carlson most of the linework is there with a few exceptions (the dreaded AEC boxes) but when I "saveas" back to R-14 more AEC boxes appear and then stay that way when trying to import to Terramodel (my end goal).

Thanks for any input.

Thad

I'm not sure if Intellicad can use the object enablers provided by Autodesk. With Carlson running on AutoCAD I convert Civil3D files by installing the Civil3D object enabler then running the -AecExportToAutoCAD command.

I am assuming after adding the enabler it has its own menu. Anyone know if Intellicad has an enabler?

To my knowledge the enabler does not have a menu. The enabler just allows other versions of AutoCAD to display the custom objects correctly. The command I posted is one that I picked up from an AutoDesk forum or perhaps the documentation available when I downloaded the enabler.

I use similar and received a dwg from an engineer with, when open the file directly thing did not look correctly. I found if I started a new dwg and inserted the engineer file as a block I had better results.

If you'd be willing to send me the original drawing (lnelsonATcarlsonswDOTcom), I'd like to take a look at it. Carlson has been co-funding (for lack of a better description) a C3D object-reader for IntelliCAD. For those on Carlson 2014, the c3d_crd and c3d_tin commands reportedly can convert these types of C3D objects into something usable.

does the enabler have to match the year of the drawing? I recall looking into these enablers and there were quite a few, making it confusing to sort. Is there one fits all?

I believe you match the enabler to your version of AutoCAD. In the case of a C3D file from a version of C3D newer than your AutoCAD you might have to first save back to your version using Trueview.

Thank you, that is simple: the enabler matches the installed version. I run AutoCAD 2014, I need enabler 2014. Will try this.

I used those two commands today. It worked very well for both points and surfaces.
