We use Carlson in the field and office and double all Traverse points . I have just noticed that Carlson is not processing the average of the Double angles, that we are observing in the field , nor averaging the distance etc. I have run the same file through TRAVPC and the software is averaging distance and angles etc. and coming up with a great closure , So I started looking at the differences and noticed the angles and distances were coming up slightly different and discovered that Carlson is only taking the first observation . I am a bit baffled I missed this before . I have used Carlson 10 years and never really broke it down and looked to see what it was doing with the double observations . I must not have a toggle checked OR SOMETHING. Anyone else see this before . I have been chasing crappy closures lately and actually made the guys redo 15 acres now suspect the Carlson raw data processor .

But on the other side TravPC was an excellent tool to isolate the Trav problem and review the results . Also has a super easy least squares program .

This is a shot in the dark but is your "Multiple Measurements to Same Point" option (presuming you are processing the data in the office) set to something like "Use First"?
