Since we've got a good list of C3D questions going, here's one more:
We've been trying to bring in a LDD surface to C3D for the purpose of adding more topo area to it. We bring in the .tin file ok, but it doesn't hold all the edits that were done to it (flipped faces, etc.).
Our solution for now is to bring in the faults and 3d faces from the old surface and use them to manually edit the C3D surface to match. Is there another way to do this so we don't have to manually edit the old surface? It is slow, and opens us up for differences between the LDD and C3D surfaces
Is there a better way to import a LDD surface into C3D?
FYI - I'm in 2011.
Paul
Maybe,
In the old days I would use the Export/Import 3D faces to go between ACAD and Microstation.
That might work for you.
Can you export a landxml from LDD? You can import that directly into C3D with all data intact.

Almost intact - what you won't get is the boundary from LDD. Civil 3d will then recreate the surface without one. If the original drawing file has the boundary polyline in it then you can copy/paste it into your new file and use it from there.
