Finally installed C3D 2013 and one of the first things I noticed was that two of the most helpful routines incorporated in awhile (importing and exporting to google earth) are gone. If you like that option I would suggest not upgrading to 2013 or at least be on a subscription so you can keep older issues loaded.
Gotta live software improvements
I still don't trust C3D 2013 enough to roll it out into production. I'm working with it as far as Sincpac-C3D development, but we seem to constantly discover new problems. We still haven't managed to build a release of the Sincpac-C3D that we feel comfortable submitting to the Autodesk App Store. I'm much more comfortable at this point with C3D 2012. The 2013 release is the most-problematic release since 2009, or maybe even 2007 (which was terrible, and had multiple withdrawn SP releases from Autodesk).
I agree, I am in the process of re-intstalling 2012 and will use that at least until 2014 comes out.

Mr. Sinc,
We have halted our installation 2013 after reading your post and seeing a recent SP yanked from the AD support site. Would you mind specifying the problems in 2013 that you have personally experienced?
Thank you,
G
2012 has seemed to be the most stable of releases of any Autocad product I have used. I saw the 2013 cd's the other day in the office and have dreaded an install. I have never like odd year releases.
I used 2013 for a week and did not see any improvements that would help surveyors. I had two major problems - losing google import/export and when you save down to acad 2012 or earlier you lose your points and all point groups and point display properties.
Calling All Autodesk C3D Gurus
Dear Guru,
If you've encountered issues with the latest C3D release, would you mind specifying all of the problems in 2013 that you have personally experienced?
Thank you,
G
The heart of the problem seems to be that Autodesk recognized some issues with 32-bit vs. 64-bit, so decided to change some of their core programming to account for it. That fixed some issues, but introduced probably just as many.
And it also made life very difficult for all third-party developers. Since half the API is on .NET, and the other half still on COM, we must now develop different versions for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. And there were multiple undocumented changes in the API, so if you use any third-party software that you rely on, be very careful about moving up to 2013.
As far as the other issues (which seemed to have a new one posted on the Autodesk forums almost every day for several weeks after it came out), I'm tentatively thinking that most of them have been fixed, as of the recent release of "Hotfix 2". I can't guarantee it, since I haven't had a chance to thoroughly test it yet, but it might finally be safe to move up to 2013, as long as you install the hotfixes. Just keep in mind that you can't go back, so if you need to collaborate on a project with someone using an earlier release, don't upgrade that project.
The release is starting to look promising, though, with a number of improvements over 2012, as long as the hotfixes fix the earlier issues.
Where Did Hotfix 2 Go?
I thought I saw Hotfix 2 posted for a short time on the Services & Support site. It's no longer there...which is why I've been looking for end user experiences.
Thank you Mr. Sinc.
