My question is about the time between jobs NOT at the end of the day. The Access takes some time to load, I was wondering what's the fastest way to turn the TSC5 off, then use is at the next job.

I've yet to use a 5 but doesn't it have a sleep mode like the other DCs??ÿ Try pushing the power button briefly.?ÿ Keyword briefly because a long press might power it off completely.

@sarkiss

The Access takes some time to load

?ÿ

It shouldn't take long at all, maybe 5-10 seconds at most. If it's taking longer than that, I'd be talking with my dealer.

If I'm jumping in the truck for more than 10 minutes, I'm ending the survey and closing down Access.

In any case, if I finish a job and am going to the next one, I'm going to close out my survey and push the current job up to the cloud beforehand.

@rover83 I just timed it. It takes 50 seconds from turning on to see the Access logo, then 10 seconds to open a project. I was hoping to get a step by step (key stokes) on how to close the job and on to the next one and when you are at the next job, just wake the TSC5 and choose the project.

@sarkiss

I just timed it. It takes 50 seconds from turning on to see the Access logo, then 10 seconds to open a project.

That's not even close to normal. Probably an OS issue, or another program is running in the background and eating up available memory.

Why not discuss this with your dealer, and have them open a tech support ticket with Trimble if they can't offer a solution?

Does anybody here know how to make TSC5 start or run faster?

You could try resetting the controller...

Backup your Trimble Data directory to a USB drive

Factory Reset the device

Reinstall Access

Restore your System Files and Geodetic Data directories.

Restore only those projects you really need.

I have all my job files on TSC5 in case I need it. Do u think that's the reason the Access software takes so long to start?

I haven't noticed that causing me problems though I usually don't let my collector get clogged with old projects. If you have a lot of points in a job though that will definitely bog down the speed of things.

My average points per job is 200-300.

Why should an old job file clog the collector? I don't think Access loads all my job files from 2005 to now before opening.

Just generating that list of jobs on your controller takes time.

More so if you have your controller set to sync with the cloud

And even more so if your sync is working badly.

Your controller will go faster (even if only just a little) if you are good with your housekeeping and only keep around those jobs and files you actually need.

Contact your Trimble vendor about slow performance to get proper instructions and files to use if you need to reimage your device

I once had a client for my COGO software who had turned on the save feature and for years had been saving every single keystroke (until it completely bogged down).
