Does anyone have a floppy disc stored away for Tripod Data Systems ?
I have a Husky MP 2500 collector with some lines of pixels burned out. It has TDS version 4.4.19 software. These are not throw-aways; you can drop these impact plastic units on concrete or back your truck over them (my helper) with no effect.
Guess that's why I don't use the modern throw-away stuff out there.
So I had to purchase a rebuilt Husky FS 2 collector to run same old Topcon 802A robot.
Any help would be appreciated on finding the floppy; hopefully someone has a version close to the 4.4.19 disc.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Won't do you any good. The software license is married to the serial number of the data collector it was sold with. You can't load the software on any other unit.
We still use a Husky with the 802A. I have the 4.4.19 software upgrade files, loading programs and instructions. As Norman said I think the software must match the serial number on the Husky. Anyway, this is upgrade and installation files, etc. Of course, you cannot violate the software license regulations.

The folk above are correct. I've recently learned the hard way that TDS views their software as non-tranferable. So if the computer it runs on dies, your license to run their software dies with it. It is impossible to switch devices because the software is "serial coded" to the device it was first installed on. Any chance you can change the screen out on the your MP2500?
Thanks for your answers guys.
Am not worried about violations of license agreements; TDS went out of business a long time ago and their buyer, Spectra Precision told me they regard the software and hardware "obsolete". So I hope they would not have the interest or legal rights to sue someone using intellectual property they regard as obsolete.
I just paid $1150 for a rebuilt Husky FS collector to run my robotic. I assumed the FS would accept any TDS software. I don't know if there was/is TDS software on the rebuilt FS.
I have some confidence in the FS rebuilder to solve this problem one way or another.
If I remember correctly, there was an awful lot of pirated tds software out there for the husky and the hp 95. Wasn't much more than going into the dos operating system and turning on hidden files. Not that I ever took part, mind you. Jp
