I gave my HP430D 24" roll plotter to an engineer friend in need of one. He has AutoCAD R14 and it apparently doesn't have a plotter manager.

I have an HP430D 36" roll plotter, and AutoCAD 2004Lt. That has a plotter manager and I can change the margins to 0.2 so I can plot outside the usual 1" border.

Is there a way for him to change the plotter margins in his R14? Bear in mind neither of us is a pro at AutoCAD, but we are good at following instructions.

If not, is there a way for him to plot a project number outside the 1" border.

Presumably there is a Windows driver for the plotter, so it will probably show up as a printer on the Windows Printers and Faxes screen. Your friend could try right-clicking on that icon and changing the plotter settings there. The plotter should also be set as the default system printer, since there doesn't seem to be a way to select printers in R14.

I'm not an expert either, but I run R14 and use this procedure when switching from my inkjet printer to plotting to a .pdf file, and also when changing from letter-size to 11 x 17 on the inkjet. I haven't tried to run a roll plotter with R14, but this might be worth a try.

There may be an "expanded plot" option.

Try typing: HPCONFIG at the command prompt.

Ay least I had it in R14.
