I have a question that is probably a general autocad question and I am using LDT 2007. I need to remove a block definition from a drawing that I have been requested to provide as part of a contract deliverable, I erased the block from the drawing and then thought about it be defined in the drawing and checked and the block definition is still in the drawing and can be reinserted by someone else receiving the cad file. I have removed other data but don’t remember how to remove the block definition. Can someone on here tell me how to remove the block definition so that my seal can't be inserted back into the drawing. TIA
Purge.............:-O
I tried the purge command and it said my block could not be purged even though I had already removed it and the layer it was on from the drawing.
Then it's still hanging out in the drawing somewhere....perhaps nested in another block? there are some work arounds ........like wblock your drawing into a new drawing or redefine the block in your drawing..
Use the filter command to look for all blocks with the name you want to delete. You must have another instance of that block somewhere in the drawing. Once you erase all of them, save and purge the drawing. Be sure to look at all tabs of the file.
For what it may be worth, I have had a number of cases in Release 14 where I could not purge a block that I guarantee was not in the drawing. Sometimes I could solve the problem by *INSERTing the entire drawing into a new drawing - but more often I gave up trying to get around an obvious "issue".
I don't think it is in the drawing, but I think that if may have been an xref and I need to fine out how to un-bind it from the drawing. I did a block count and my block was listed with 0 occurrences.
Could that block be a part of the original drawing template.

Which may be an indication of it being nested.........
It is possible, I know a lot of blocks are created and inserted on layer 0, but I don't know why my seal would be nested.
I don't think I have ever inserted my seal in the original drawing template.
make a big circle of radius 10000000. Type "block". define a new block consisting of the circle and give it the name of your mystery block. When asked "if you want to redefine the block" type yes. Zoom extents. Now all the big circles you see are your mystery block. Erase them, Purge and drawing cleanup.
Make A New Block With the Exact Same Name
Have nothing in the block but a dark gray dot on a "do not plot" layer.
Insert that new block in said drawing, say yes about replacing the original. Wherever your signature/seal is it will disappear.
I would recommend then deleting that new block from your machine so you do not use it in the future.
