I would like to report the passing of my very good friend Prof. Dick Rapp on 20 Sept. 2020

We go back 50 years and and since he retired we have kept in touch by email.

I will give more information when I get it.

John/Mickey,

Thank you for this mention. Dick was a great teacher even to his brother and nephew!

He will definitely be missed.

His great influence is shown by the comments on his passing by many of the leading figures in worldwide geodesy. I still refer to his notes on geometric geodesy available as PDF here:

https://earthsciences.osu.edu/research/geodetic-science/resources

I had not noticed Mr Noltonƒ??s post on his passing. Thanks for posting.
