Dave was a well known and respected, legendary really, surveyor in Oregon‰ÛÒ his standards were high and he raised the bar for land surveyors with his exemplary and professional work. His honesty, humor and sincerity won him hundreds of friends and admirers in the survey community and he will be remembered fondly by all of us who had the pleasure of knowing him.

I last saw him about two years ago, must have been shortly before he was diagnosed with cancer, at the retirement party for the Lane County Surveyor in Eugene. Dave came into the mid-day function from doing some timber cruising on his family land‰Û? tennis shoes (old hands in the woods get comfortable footwear on as soon as they get to the rig... you can tell a logger by his tennis shoes or Romeos... someone wearing West Co's or Whites around town is a wannabe or a hipster), Carharts with suspenders, a bright red tee shirt, wild hair and beard, and his wry half-cocked grin. It‰Ûªs a nice last memory to have of the man I suppose.
