Nine months since DJI went onto the FCC Covered List. New foreign-made models can't get the equipment authorization they need to enter the US market. What's already in your case stays legal to fly, and a waiver keeps firmware updates coming through at least January 2027.
The part I keep hearing about is the money. Reports put compliant replacements at 50 to 100 percent more than the Matrice gear they replace, and utility and infrastructure clients are scoring NDAA compliance in procurement now, so a DJI fleet can lose points on bids it isn't formally barred from.
So where does that leave everybody?
If you've already swapped, what did you go to and what did it actually run you? If you're still flying DJI, are you planning to replace or planning to wait? And has a client asked you about compliance yet, or is it not coming up on your work?
Curious whether this is biting evenly or whether it depends entirely on who you work for.
