Dan and Steve, you are both an inspiration to me. You both are "Surveyor's Surveyors" and the state is very lucky to have you two. Thank you very much for helping me wrap my mind around these though problems. Thank you especially for showing that the General Assembly did keep the cadastre restrictions.

This is obviously something for the board, but we approached them and the state surveyor about a community in Carroll County that requires that prospective builders take a copy of a survey, hand draw the house on it, and include dimensions and submit this to them. The "derivative works" copyright protection would shield against this. All involved told us to cut bait.

We found out about this practice by a successor in title wanting us to certify this tampered survey to him. The consumer believed that WE HAD LOCATED THE HOUSE AND THAT IT WAS OUR PRODUCT.

Lawyers that I have spoken with on these issues do not understand in the least. All of the surveyors practicing in Madison County are either oblivious or worse. This is why Dad and I felt that we could no longer practice in the county. My ASD keeps me from being able to refrain from acting in the embarrassing way that you both have witnessed. It also causes me to obsess on these issues, and take my responsibilities of licensure very seriously. I try very hard to be a good surveyor. Dad and I are terrified at this point, as all efforts to protect the public of Arkansas result in extreme persecution. I am scared to even write on this page, but a little understanding goes a long way for me. In my down time, I have learned how to play guitar and sing. I have also been attempting to learn Spanish for the last few years with some success. Hopefully I can use this language to serve the large Hispanic community here in Springdale. I wish that I could get PDH's for this effort as I am tired of taking the same classes at mckissock over and over again. I am over my anger with ASPS, but I still don't feel like the short courses are a place for me. All of my continuing education is out of pocket at this point. If I let my license expire, it is 4 year college for me, and I would never go 4 years to be a surveyor. Honestly, I don't know who would. My wallet card provided me last cycle included the word "probation". I'm not even sure what that means. All I know is that I need to finish this one long term job for a wonderful client so Precision Land Surveying, Inc. can rest in peace. I was actually considering the fall course, but I will be flying to Cozumel Mexico to DJ at a club there where I hope to develop a residency and practice my Spanish. My wife wants to witness the Los Dias del Muertes celebrations. Tickets and booking are complete, so it's online classes again. Maybe in the spring...

Scott,
Thank you for the complement. Did you know your Dad will celebrate 30 years as a Land Surveyor 6/27/2015 along with Steve and I?

Good Luck in your new profession,
DDSM:beer:
