Just went out to check on my beer can chicken, and I saw 2 homes in the neighborhood where the Christmas lights are on already. Can I have my turkey first, people? I don't know why Thanksgiving gets no respect anymore. I don't know about you, but it's my favorite holiday.

I can't answer that brother. It seems the older I get, the earlier the Christmas advertising cranks up and Thanksgiving is just a passing thought.
It must be all about the money. "If the holiday isn't a big money maker then who cares" That's about all I can figure.
Sad, but perhaps true.

My next door neighbor has had lights up since about the 1st of November, added some more today and he has a tree up inside too, says he just loves Christmas.

$$$$

Money, money, money...

I refuse to think about it until I'm done digesting my turkey. I purposely avoid the first few retailers that start setting up their displays so early, it just pi**es me off. I celebrate it for what it was meant to be, not what the money-grubbers have turned it into.

Yes, nobody wanting anything but friends and family and reflection on the positive things in our lives.....

Well, I should say; most of us.......

Not only should they respect Thanksgiving, but if they just wait a little, they can reach those eaves without a ladder (they just have to make sure their snowshoes are ready-to-go).

Unfortunately in my house, the children's demands to put up Christmas decorations was met.

Rob

I wholeheartedly agree. My wife asked that my daughter and I this past weekend go and get the Christmas stuff from storage so she could work on it today. I told her it was a daddy/daughter weekend and I wasn't going after it until late NEXT Saturday after I recuperated from Thanksgiving and hunting, and that any other requests would be met with extreme prejudice on the subject.

However, we did slaughter several chickens yesterday for Thanksgiving "drunk chicken" that we are preparing. Fun time with my kids, killing chickens, rum and cokes and generally nothing else to do after church. Good times, great season.

The more time goes on, I'm beginning to hate Christmas and work hard to remember the reason for the season.

Hate to be the bearer of unwelcome news but Christmas is just 5 weeks from tomorrow.
