This past weekend, SWMBO and I celebrated 40 years of wedded bliss.
As any normal surveyor would do; I took pictures of survey marks, while we were out and about....B-)
Here is a picture of an NGS control point
Can you guess where I am?
It's near the confluence of these 2 rivers:
Here is the first clue:
It took me about 4 hours to get here.
🙂
The Columbia and Snake rivers?
My guess is NE WA
The bare hillside in the far background, and the birch trees, suggest a location east of the Cascades. But as far as specifics, too many possibilities to guess.
Second clue:
DWolfe, a fellow beerlegger, would know where this is; he has probably used this control point....:-D
> Second clue:
> DWolfe...
Then it would seem to be the confluence of the Chewuck and Methow Rivers in Winthrop, WA.
Forty years of wedded bliss???? How many total? 55? 60? All to the same woman?
> You are good!
Not really. There is only one surveyor by the name of Wolfe licensed in Washington State.

All the same woman, it took about 30 for her to get used to me...;-)
We got married in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout.B-)
Ding ding ding, we have a winner!
Tried to order a porter gaf again and got the same funny look I got, back in 04.;-)
The two of you are rare critters. Make sure no one tries to put you on exhibit in a Believe It or Not type of place.
> The two of you are rare critters....
Sometimes we fight, just so we can make up!
:snarky:
Congratulations on your marriage longitivity! I'm 64 and me and SWMBO were married in 1969(and still are). Let the "Divine Bovine" do the mathematical computations.;-)
Married the first time in 1971 while 17 to a lovely bride who was 15 at the time. We recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of our divorce. Does that count? No joke. About 5 days after the 30th anniversary of our meeting with the judge to finalize our divorce we were together at a mass photography shoot for our current families and those of our three children and grandchildren. One selection of shots are of the two of us with our three children. How about that?
"How about that?"
:good: :good:
family photos with my "ex"
I commend you for being photographed with your ex. Around here that probably won't ever happen.
I've maneuvered two weddings without any serious wounds. But any other chance encounters will probably require some special equipment:

You apparently went for a wildcat instead of a pussy cat.:-P
