Aloha, @Wendell: This is a great way to move forward. I admire your compassion despite of what was uttered in the moment of heated communications. If it happens again it is not on you. There are always goodness in everyone but sometimes the "not so good stuff" outshines the goodness in them...Some of us are just so good at teaching us what not to do. But everyone is our teacher regardless...okay end of philosophical thoughts...
I know you are fully aware of this--but it is worth saying again--there are so many of us appreciate what you and your team are doing. I wouldn't have gotten where I am in my surveying knowledge if not for this forum. Thank you so much for keeping the site going! :good::beer:
SOUNDED A LOT LIKE TED BUT HE DIDN'T YELL. MUST BE ON SOME HAPPY PILLS THESE DAYS.
Edit: Read more. I see he does know where the capitalization key is located.
I nominate yswami for surveyor spirit guide or something to that effect. Looking forward to my trip to Hawaii where perhaps I will meet the guru at the top of a mountain or behind a total station. Either way, seems like a calming, worthwhile effort.

Thanks for the nominations:-D:-D:-D
When are you planning to visit Hawaii. Be sure to include Kauai:bye: I'd be happy to give you and your family a private tour of the monastery. In the old forum we would say "email in the profile is good." I think in the new one "we need to start a conversation." I'll post my email in the conversation...You will be the second Beerlegger I will meet after Williwaw from Alaska!
Aloha
Wendell, I sent your bride a message a bit ago through the 'contact us', on beerleg. Just hoping she received it. Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks Moe! She's been extremely busy lately, but I'll remind her. You can start a conversation with her through this website and it will go directly to her.

Slight hijack about Durian (and other tropical fruit). I don't cut open durian around my family (only do that when they are out of town), but they do like durian in bubble tea (the ice masks the odor, mostly). But maybe you could help me identify the tropical fruit pictured below. had those in Brunei and though they were quite tart, they are an amazing fruit I cannot find here. i do see star fruit and pomelo at some markets now but not these "spiderman" fruit:
Are some of those Lychees??

I got it...just haven't had time to reply to ya...I will soon, though.

He worried too much about the notorious black helicopters that might be spying on him and threatening his security.
I always enjoyed his participation. Not that I usually agreed with him, but that he was entertaining. I believe he actually was a very good surveyor and one I would probably recommend to someone in his general area.
Isn't it funny...it turns out there ARE black helicopters flying over the cities and spying on everybody and they ARE spying on your every word...
Seems maybe everyone else was wrong...

I've given him more chances than anyone and he simply just does not like the fact that we do not allow politics and thinks he should get to post them anyway.

I replied, "You compare me to Hitler and then you want to be nice? I've been here before and I won't fall for it again. Bye bye." At this point, I began to wonder why I was responding at all... but I got this back (previously posted):
I made one last reply, "oooooooooooh I guess you told me! LOL" which then led to this:
I left it alone after that. There are other conversations from before this that I had forgiven him for, even though they contained far more profanities and threats of personal violence. I knew he was full of himself and I had let it go. But this last series of emails finished him off for me. And yet he could come back here now if he wanted to, but I suspect it wouldn't last long. Reminder to self....don't ever consider a private E-Mail or letter to remain private.....

Aloha, Angel:
There are a lot of reasonably price lodging. If you chose Waikiki beach area in Honolulu, Oahu then you will have to pay handsomely for it!! Similarly, North Shore or Princeville area here on Kauai can be pricy--depending on the view you choose; however, you can find great prices in Kapaa, Kauai. Holiday seasons are always expensive... We can start a conversation if you need help finding reasonably priced place--at least on the island of Kauai. Happy to point you to the right direction 🙂

Aloha, @Angel: No those are not Lychees. It is another type of palm fruit just a bit smaller then the Gavin was inquiring.
We have tons of Lychee this year. If you show up in the next two or three weeks you and eat as much as you wish from our trees! 😀 Just a week ago Stacy Carroll's (fellow Beerlegger :-)) friend from GA visited the monastery. The whole family enjoyed lychee for the first time. It was from one of our best tree...which is almost over for the season. However, we have several trees and they ripen severals few weeks apart. So we still have more....:-)

We'd wanna stay by where you are. Cheap is good! 😀
We went to Kauai in 2012 for a wedding and stayed at the Westin in Princeville which was pretty nice. Resorts like that are not really my thing but I enjoyed it surprisingly.
A great thing was a photographer at the wedding organised a helicopter ride from Port Allen airport in a little four seater and the pilot agreed to take the doors off so the photographer wasn't taking photos through a window. It was amazing seeing the whole island from the air. Flying inside the old volcano (who's name escapes me now) under the clouds was fantastic.
Aloha, @Seb
Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit and stay here. Helicopter ride is the best way to see the island!:good:
That extinct volcano would be Mt. Waialeale. Our monastery is right under foothills of this old volcano. It is also claimed to among the wettest spot on the earth--over 800 inches or rain every year.

Still waiting on that conversation about the cheap lodging... B-)
