Update: 11 a.m.:
A state of emergency has been declared for the City of Orlando and the state of Florida.
Gov. Rick Scott is en route to Orlando and will hold a news conference shortly.
Update: 10:30 a.m.:
The shooting at Pulse nightclub became the worst mass shooting in U.S. history after law enforcement officers were able to enter the club and secure the scene, where they found at least 50 bodies inside.
One of my daughters has had one heck of a week. Monday she flew to Louisville for a business meeting on Monday and Tuesday. Got to witness much of the Ali related action. Then she flew to Orlando to join the rest of her family who had driven down there to see her sweetie's grandmother.for the first time in years. Hurricane Colin was messing things up in that area. About the time they were scheduled to start driving home his grandmother died. So they dealt with all of that unexpected activity. They left Orlando early this morning as all the news crews were arriving.
Not sure if I want her to come visit me.o.Oo.Oo.O:woot:
This is definitely a wake-up call for all us NIMBY's.

I do. The indigent American Indians were massacred just as brutally as the Aztec's, Inca's and Amazonian's.
One of my high school classmates is a surgeon right in the middle of all this at the Orlando hospital.
Was he one of the six they interviewed together on the news last night?
I'm impressed; in the old days, this thread would've went sideways about 2 minutes after it was posted.
Great job in providing us with a civil, amiable web site in which can converse in such an empathic manner.
Thanks Wendell, keep up the good work!

I don't know which news you're talking about, but he's front and center here.
You nailed it. That's the one I watched. Very good answers. Some horribly leading questions, though. Found it interesting that the doctor on the back row on the left was wearing a top indicating he is a pediatric surgeon. Average patient size expanded greatly.
A tragedy for sure. My sympathies go out to the families and friends of the victims.
