Here's a pic of today's killer tornado that went through Moore, Ok. We were approx. 1.5 miles southeast of it...

would have taken more shots but I'm not a storm chaser...it was time to go the other direction.

Say a prayer for the two dozen or so 1st, 2nd & 3rd graders at Plaza Towers Elementary that had to leave this world this afternoon.:-(

say a prayer for their parents, too...

so, so sad

Prayers for the little guys, for sure, and their families.
I really pray that they were not terrified.
I would have been, but I'm older and not as innocent.
🙁

Thanks for the update and pics. I was scared to ask. This is frontpage news on Thomson Reuters, they have a slideshow and it sure is reminiscent of the Joplin, Mo. F5. Hats off, what a beating.

Help is coming from Joplin

Announced tonight---In response to the destruction following the tornado in Moore, Oklahoma Joplin city officials have gathered a team of public safety employees including members of the fire departments and police departments. The team will assist the Oklahoma town in clean-up and rescue efforts.

Joplin faced a similar crisis two years ago after a tornado left the Missouri city in a similar catastrophic state.

Joplin's disaster was on May 22, just two years ago.

That's cool.

Moore is "toe up" pretty bad..lotsa folks without even a roof to lay down under. It will take a while to get things cleaned up. "Back to normal" will never happen, I'm sorry to say. Things like this change people's lives.

The fatality count keeps climbing, it's a bad deal all the way around. I'm sure those affected will welcome the help.

I have an Uncle that is just off SW 34th, his house it fine. His oldest daughter lost her home but nobody was there. His youngest daughter lost a home in the 99 tornado, it was spared this time. His son lives on the east side of 35 and it missed his house by 3 blocks.

This graphic shows just how bad this area has been hit in the last 15 years:

It's more like Tornado Turnpike than it is tornado alley.

My prayers go out to those in the path, especially the children.

James

Shout out to Lawton Slavation Army

They showed up yesterday evening with a food truck ...

Traffic will be messed up on I-35 through Moore today ...
Think I'll stay home and count my blessings ...
Not sure I can watch any more news though ...

Some good news: 101 people pulled from their shelters last night !

Last year., I saw the destructive past that was caused by the Tuscaloosa tornado which was one month before the Joplin tornado.
I was bewildered seeing the swath of destruction. Many people died and they were somewhat lucky that the fatalities were not higher than 64..

good to hear that everyone is safe from the board. I remember someone stating their location was Moore, OK in their sign-on.

very sad for the loss of life at the school. It is hard to comprehend the sadness.

Used the new storm shelter for the first time on Sunday, only lost a few tree limbs in north Edmond.

My heart goes out to the good people of Oklahoma affected by this disaster. Gives a man pause to know that in the space of a few moments, someone's lifetime of efforts can be turned upside down and shredded into pieces. The children lost is the hardest to accept. I can't imagine.
