Through thick and thin, for almost 45 years, she's been there for me every morning.
Weeks would pass and I would hardly give her a glance, but there were times we enjoyed every morning together.
I finally trashed my circa 1970 "Harvest Gold" two-slice toaster, I had to put her down. For the last 4 or 5 years I've had to manually "pop up" the toast before it burned. Over the holidays a flashy red Black & Decker model caught my eye at the store...I've found a new breakfast companion.
I guess my wife can now stop showering me with compliments like "cheap SOB"...:snarky:
Maybe it just needed a firmware update? 😀
Topcon will replace the main board for $5000.
You realize the new stuff is designed to fail in a year or so.
They don't make 'em like they used to. Our upright freezer is now 44 years old and doing just fine.
I hope you have installed her on your trophy shelf for visitors to see. She's earned some recognition for all of the hard work she gave you. No gold watch for her either, I suppose, Cheapskate.
> I hope you have installed her on your trophy shelf for visitors to see....
Sorry to report she didn't even make the blue "recycle" bin. Just the regular trash...I'm so heartless! 🙁
Your punishment is that you must now go to the garage and soundly kick one of your motorsickles until it cries. She gave you her warm heart for 45 years and you give her the "flush the goldfish down the stool" thanks for all of it.

lol! I see you've experienced that too....
Mine was more like Topcon will replace the board in the Base receiver for $5000, and when you get it back, it'll work, but the Rover won't work and some of the screws on the antenna part were backed out like as if someone had it apart and forgot to drive the screws back in all the way when they were finished....
hmmm....
> Sorry to report she didn't even make the blue "recycle" bin. Just the regular trash...I'm so heartless! 🙁
I thought you were being a heartless scuzzball also.
So you dropped/trashed her for an alluring little import that you "picked up" at Walmart. 😉
No good will come of this

sounds trashy, doesn't it?..I feel so ashamed.....
It could have been more understand if you picked it up at Kohl's or Macy's 🙂
I have a Proctor Silex Model T620B from the early 1970s that works good as long as the contacts are clean. I found that Sears has a listing for replacement parts.
It is amazing how many bread particles are left in the toaster from the popup motion.
Then there is the Munsey BB-3_T oven toaster that is still in top shape. There are some foods that the microwave just does not warm properly and the double oven wall unit is just too much to fire up for and this gadget does pizza, nachos, cheese toast and garlic bread great.
I took it apart about 15yrs ago to clean it and it took me a couple of years to find a wiring diagram. A great person from their old headquarters drew a diagram and sent to me by email.
Wife and kids give me that look daily when I use them.
B-)
My 1966 RCA Whirlpool washing machine finally went belly up last year. When my wife caught me online ordering parts you would have thought I was surfing for porn...
A “red” toaster? Good grief man have you no sense of interior design? I would have upgraded to “Avocado” which became the new “Harvest Gold”. I know about this stuff because I read about it on the web, therefore it’s true. B-)

You should have waited until Valentines Day and killed two birds with one stone 😉
Count me as heartless scuzzball too. Best thing about the new one? It won't stay down/lock down unless it's plugged in. I leave for work with real toast in hand more often now...
At my age I categorically avoid ANYTHING that includes the word "Proctor"...
My current Schonstedt was purchased used 22 yrs ago, and still works just fine 🙂
Mine's almost 40 years old. Also bought used. Repaired once.
A co-worker's house burned down. After an arson investigation, the cause was determined to be the toaster.
He is very adamant that toasters are not left plugged in. I guess you could say that about most any appliance.
