I have been going through episodes of Bonanza on Netflix. I grew up admiring all the Cartwright's and Hoss in particular. I always thought that if you needed to know the right thing to do all you needed to do is what Hoss would do. In one particular episode, Hoss fights a bear bare handed. It was so obvious that it was really a man in a bear suit. Just another disappointment in a long list. First of all, I realized that wrestling was fake when I was about 11. If my Granddaddy ever had that realization, he never admitted it and I never brought it up as watching wrestling together was one of our things. We were always waiting for the day when Haystack Harry would whip Freddy Blassie. Now I either have to face the fact that Hoss really couldn't whip a bear or he was not allowed to fight a bear because of animal cruelty laws.

They simply couldn't find a bear willing to tangle with Boss.

"I realized that wrestling was fake when I was about 11"

I took my son and friend to see WWF, Andre the Giant, Macho Man and others. I laughed so hard my sides hurt for a week, great live entertainment. I am not sure the people in the first few rows were aware that it was fake, they were as much fun to watch as the wrestlers, no bears though.

We did have a guy that came to the sportsmans shows with his black bear and they would wrestle, I really felt bad for the bear, lived in a cage and had a chain on his leg.

Nothing in life is fake.
Everything in life is fake.
Extreme limits are fun, if taken in moderation, like book ends.
