Stuck in the office finishing a plat. Gorgeous day outside. I'm not far off the flight line for the airport. My focus is getting distracted on a regular basis by the sound of big radial-engined aircraft. A beautiful B-17 just passed over as it entered the approach pattern. Kept my attention for a couple of minutes before it flew out of view. Yesterday a locally based B-25 (Pacific Prowler) was making laps around downtown Fort Worth. We have a local C-47 that gives rides from time to time. On a day like today, they remind me I'd rather be flying or even just in the field than sitting here pushing a mouse around. Dagnabbit.

I miss flying, too. It would be nice if someone made regular deposits into my checking account so I can go fly, or go to the mountains, or deep sea fishing, or ........:-P

Very easy to get distracted today. Rankin's photos are not helping either.

Just watched them cut hay on the adjacent lots here at the office. Tomorrow they will be racking and bailing. Just might have to go help.

My first "airplane ride" was in a DC-3 (C-47) back in the 1950s.

There were a few trips in Convair 240s (Western Airlines as I recall) in the 1960s or 70s.

A couple of trips in De Havilland Otters (Alaska in the 1980s).

My last Radial Engine flight was in a De Havilland Beaver (Float Plane) out of Ketchikan Alaska in 2004.

I love the sound of a radial engine, and still would like to ride in a De Havilland Caribou.

Oh a P-47 and/or Vought F4U would be sweet too (although there is only one seat)! Of course ANY WWII Bomber would be COOL also!

😀

$500 for 25 minutes

Ride the Pacific Prowler

I see they also own the C-47, Southern Cross, that has been tormenting me.

Racking involves something solid suddenly coming into contact with testicles in an extremely uncomfortable manner. Bailing involves water and a bucket.

I'm thinking they will be raking and baling hay tomorrow.;-)

I have found that my productivity decreases directly with my proximity to airports, railroad tracks and college campuses...

I was racking my brain trying to figure out what needed to be racked in a hay field.

Thanks for clearing that up.:-D
