I don't know what it is about a guy when he puts one on his head, but it seems that he can't drive when he's wearing one.

I've told SWMBO my theory and she rolls her eyes; but, just yesterday we almost got run into head on by a guy with one on, driving the wrong way in our lane, which was a left turn lane, and two days before a guy driving a suburban wearing one ran a red light causing four of us in the intersection to come to screeching stops to avoid him and each other.

SWMBO just looks at me and says, "yeah I saw what he was wearing, don't say it!"

Oh - and here I thought a cowboy hat was to hold in the BS. 🙂

Reminds me of a joke - What do you call a Stetson hat sitting on top of a pair of cowboy boots? A Texan with the BS kicked out of him. :-O 😛

Don't get me wrong, I know a lot and I mean a lot of cowboys and most are fine people.

Some wear the hat some don't, but, I've been having so many close calls with drivers wearing them, cutting me off, driving down a turn lane for blocks, running red lights or stop signs, pulling out in front of cars then going slow. Kind of like road rules don't apply to em. 😉

Started to treat them on the road like I do really tiny really old drivers peaking over the steering wheel like my mother-give them a wide berth.

I, too, was having difficulty grasping your intent. I had settled on the idea that you meant those atrocious bicycle helmets that are nearly flat on top with slots running longitudinally. Yellow ones might remind someone of potato chips. Then you specifically mentioned the guy was driving something other than a bike.:'(

Sounds more like you have Vaqueros rather than Cowboys. Either way, if they are from anywhere south of the RedRiver, Yankees are supposed to yield the right of way. 🙂

I've always found that most times I see someone driving poorly (too slow, lost, weaving, etc.) it's a guy wearing a hat. Any kind of hat.

Why on earth do you need to wear your hat inside your car?

Depends on the hat, the car, and where do you have a place to put it.

B-)

If you set it on the car seat when you are driving, someone will get in the car and sit on it.

Mike.

Then you have Rexall Rednecks and not folks who should be wearing them. I've worn one dating back to my earliest memories of my grandfather and me. It's just shade.

FWIW, I don't wear it in the truck much (unless I forget) because I don't need to carry shade with me with I'm in the shade.

You can have my Bangora Straw Hat/guns/knives/trucks/tractors when you pry them from my cold dead hands. 🙂

I didn't think you could wear a cowboy hat in a vehicle. I mean, doesn't the top if it hit the top of the cab? Doesn't the back bill hit the back of the headrest? Can you turn your head to the left to look out the window? They just seem too big to wear in a car or truck.
