It's 9 degrees, and dropping. Add in 10 inches of snow with a 35 mph north wind...can't hardly see the street from the front door.
I shoveled the steps so the dog could get out...she came right back. What a lovely day.
I hope everybody north and east of here enjoys this as much as I am:-(
I bet all the crews call in...what a bunch of wimps.
Maybe this will warm you up... 🙂
now that's just mean. i'm still getting over the Hanauma bay photo. take wendell up to the top of Diamond Head and see who finds the triangulation mark first.
my own bride thinks i am a squirrel when i start looking for marks when we're on holiday

Awww...I really wish all of you guys could be here. Seriously. We'd have a blast!!
We're going up to Diamond Head later today to do just that. So tell me before Wendell sees this what to look for so *I* can get the pic of it! hehehe 😉 He's ALWAYS looking for marks, monuments, anything survey related, really. His eye is very sharp on this. That's why I need the head start! 😛
Hanauma Bay is Wednesday. I bought 3 underwater cameras to get fishy pics. I just need the fish to cooperate. 😐
I'm trying to keep the 1200' driveway to my spec house open by shoveling and packing it down wit my car (and an occasional snow machine). So far I've only had to have it plowed once. I just shovel about 20 minutes each day to clear the bad spots.
Looks like we may get 2 feet out of this one, so I might have to break down and have it plowed again.
It takes about two armloads of firewood per day to keep the house warm enough to sling sheetrock mud (No power yet). I'm gonna take a load or two the escort today with firewood just in case .
(this picture is from two weeks ago. more snow now and no excavator)
Yeah I've got a pretty bad case of retinal rectumitus. I don't see my ass going anywhere today.
It's definitely bringing the pain this morning in the piney woods.
hey Kris
probably not a good day to put up the metal roof on the equipment barn.
Storm hasn't started here yet. Been working for three weeks on sheetrock so I will enjoy a break (tomorrow) from sanding.
hey Kris
You're right about that perry. I will be draining water lines before noon and warming up the chain saw for clearing roads.
if i remember correctly, its about 30 feet east of the gun bunker/watch station. on the high point. should be a regular uscgs traingulation station. ~3 1/2" diameter brass grouted into rock. might impress him if you find it first.
and rent a bike, take outside waikiki beach. get just beyond walking distance. find a sushi joint and eat like a king for about $4.
then ride up and down Sierra Drive, to justify the lunch. beautiful scenery and fantastic exercise
Sleetpocalypse in N.Texas. Im staying home. One of our cad guys who is from Wyoming says he is going in. Giving the whole "im from wyoming this isnt nothing" spill. He hasnt been here long enough to see how some of the idiots around here handle the icy conditions. It is almost comical how the outatowners who have come here to work, wont listen to the natives about such things.
6" on the ground now in Lawton and into the minus numbers on the temps with a sustained 40 mph wind. It's supposed to keep up until this evening so no telling how much snow we will wind up with when it's all over.
Looks like everything is closed today and even Fort Sill is only calling for essential personnel today. I'll likely walk over to the E911 Center this morning once it gets light and give Derrell (Director) a hand on routing if needed.
Look at the weather map for MO. I live right there... between the 2 Z's in the words Blizzard Warning.
Not even trying to start the vehicles this morning.
Super Bowl Fans
I heard on the news that flights were being cancelled.
All the Packer fans were asked to hold off until Wednesday to travel..All the Steeler fans were told to go ahead and get on a plane.;-)

Both teams arrived yesterday. The Pack is staying in the same Hotel that we had our company Christmas party and had to drive through part of our job leaving the airport. I was hoping to see them land, but ATC had everyone taking off to the north and landing from the south yesterday.:-(
there's also a brass cap in the top of the look-out.
Hanauma Bay
Go early. Seems that place can get a bit busy but well worth it.
When your not in a nice secured (or the feeling of a secured) state park here is a little trick I have learned in my snorkeling travels. Take a dry bag everywhere. I throw the keys and wallet in it, and tow it along as we are snorkeling. This way I usually leave the car windows down and don't worry about someone walking off with my stuff. Its also nice way to carry other essentials. IE... snorkel for a long while then stop on a rock outcrop and have a beer!:-)
Its 22 degrees here and dropping like a rock.
We had 60mph gusts when this thing blew in.
Still blowing around 40mph.
Tonight they say we will be in uncharted waters with -5 below zero wind chill.
Snow is forecast for tomorrow.
75 deg here, the last 3 days.
Yikes!!!
Randy
Good Luck, Brace yourselves.
Since I am in one of the few states that are not going to be affected by this storm I'll just say good luck. Seems like it may be time to just spend some of the vacation time, whether its real or imaginary. All I have heard here on the radio is that back east is going to be getting the storm of the century. 2-3 inches of snow an hour. I also just heard that Dallas-Fortworth int. is currently close due to storm. Makes me wonder how many empty seats will be in The stadium for the superbowl.
Same front got here Sunday. We got 6-8" of snow and the high yesterday was -7. Problem was it was windy 20-30, I don't know what the wind chill #'s were but they were down there. Right now it's -22. High of -3 predicted. I don't think anyone to the east of here will get a break for a while.
