Leaving tomorrow to hike to Machu Picchu (Inca trail). 4 days starting Friday (two days to acclimate in Cusco). Should be a good time, but it is the rainy season. Had to do it now, just turned 59 and getting older....

I know a couple folks who have hiked the Inca trail. They speak favorably of a local elixir the natives call "coca leaves".

That's near the top of my list of places that I would like to visit.

For anyone who loves history or just a great nonfiction, read "The History of the Conquest of Peru," by William H. Prescott?ÿ published in 1847.?ÿ

Chew the leaves. Climb Haynu Picchu, too. Also check out "Turn Right at Machu Picchu" by Mark Abrams.?ÿ Very fun read, not as much depth as The History of The Conquest of Peru" or the?ÿ "The Conquest of the Incas," by John Hemming.?ÿ I enjoyed Hemming's book, but Abrams was a more fun read and covered current trekking.

One should buy coca leaf tea in the stores. It comes in tea bags like Tetley or other teas. Excellent pick me up. It won't cure aches and pains but it will make you feel better about them.

Depends on whether you have to pass a pee test any time in the next few weeks.

I never had a pee test. I did have a few clients who stated that if they requested a drug test that we would have to comply. Never happened.

I still have a few t-bags left from a Bolivia trip. No problem at customs. Apparently not very addictive but I think chewing the leaves would be more susceptible to dependency.

Thanks Don, just bought "Turn Right at Machu Picchu" ebook, looks like a fun read.

Another good read is "Conquistador": Hernan Cortes, King Montezuma, and the Last Stand of the Aztecs, it's a very good read, at least to me!

Say hey to Dawn for me! The TS06 is in the field every day.?ÿ ??ÿ
