My family is headed to State College, PA for vacation. My wife is going for work and we decided to take the family with. We plan on going to Penn's Cave and it looks like there will be an agricultural fair at the same time too. Does anyone have other recommendations for things to do?

Ironically on our way back, we will be going to Sandusky, OH to Cedar Point.

be sure to ride the "Ripcord" at Cedar Point. it's not part of the regular admission, and sits just outside the park entrance from what I remember. better than any other ride.

I've done the ripcord before, just in Wisconsin Dells, the area I grew up. We've actually been to Cedar Point before. I loved the Millenium Force. This time we have kids with.

There's also Lincoln Caverns which is about 30 miles or so from State College. You'll be up near my neck of the woods (Huntingdon) there's also Raystown Lake but that would probably be more of a weekend thing.

Check this site out: http://www.statecollege.com/

If you fish (and by fish I mean like a gentleman, with a fly rod 😉 ) then Penn's Creek is one of the most famous trout streams in the east.

you gotta hit up Otto's Pub & Brewery. Its a little outside of town on North Atherton Street.
If you like craft beer, you'll love this place. Try the Double D IPA.
Go to the creamery at Penn State, not sure if they'll still have Peachy Paterno with everything thats been going on, but they have good ice cream.
Plenty of Hiking and Mountain Bike trails to be had as well near Tussey Mountain. Ask some locals when you get up there, they'll point you in the right direction.

or Spruce Creek, I think that is the more famous of the two for Fly Fishing.

What kind of bait do you use to catch flys?

Yeah but that's like the fountain of youth for trout...Mostly private owned. We did a survey for an attorney that owned land that fronted on it, we surveyed for half a day, he fixed us lunch, we fished the rest of the day and called it even.

I caught this bad boy that day.......

I'm on the right, Attorney on the left, Biggest D*** trout I've ever caught in the middle.
