And I've still got bits and pieces of it flying around in my head. So I thought I might encumber all y'alls consciousness with the dream's insanity. Here goes:

I found myself at a surveyor's convention of sorts that was being held in what was apparently a Mexican border town. It was turning from afternoon to evening and the population seemed to swell with those that made the event after a day's work. I quickly noticed everyone's little stick-on name tag also included their employers' names...except for those of us that frequent this RPLSToday forum. WE all had "BeerLeg" emblazoned upon our sticky.

Being afternoon in a border town the beer was flowing in red Solo cups. The carnival like atmosphere was similar to the football game atmosphere around here in Norman, OK., the only days it is perfectly legal to sell (and consume) cold beer outdoors within the public R/W. I was having a good time and there was, of course, live music to brighten the festivity.

While my name tag with the RPLSToday logo upon it was a great ice-breaker for conversation I was surprised that no one was recognizing me. My dream's version of Nate (who looked amazing like a young man I hired as a surveyor's helper once at a construction company and eventually went on to take the helm as general superintendent) pointed out to me my name tag had my 'given name' and not the name so many of you here would recognize. I enjoyed everyone's company and saw name tags from pretty much everyone that visits here. Of course not knowing what the majority of you all look like, my dream-center had to rely upon images of acquaintances from my memories. Some I can remember, some I can't. I do remember the 'Holy Cow' I met looked eerily similar to screen actor Wilford Brimley. Robert Hill was portrayed by a football coach I had in Jr. High. Our west Texas amigo 'Monte' was played by none other than the Duke hisself, John Wayne. While I didn't get to visit with him much, Jerry Penry was played by Sheriff Andy Taylor (in uniform) and had a busy discussion going on in the middle of the street about where the buried monument was most probably located. I can't make this stuff up. This dream was hilarious.

Someone let me in on the fact that Wendell had apparently rented out an entire hotel right in the middle of the fray and members could bunk there for free. I was a little tired and wanted to get my boots off. While the rooms in this hotel seemed to flow from one to the other (like a frat house party) I did manage to find a quiet spot in a corner with lots of sofa cushions as the bed. I do remember the waste basket in the corner was full of old tin Coca-Cola signs that no one seemed interested in because they were en Espa?ñol.

The only sanctioned activity that evening was going to be a seminar presented by a group of Texas surveyors that had taken up residency in tents on top of the two story building across the street from this hotel. I could see their tents and someone had a static unit cooking on the roof at one of the building corners. This was an indication to me the presentation wasn't quite ready to start since they probably hadn't processed their data yet.

I took the time to wander down the street (possibly to find my truck) to a parking lot. Guillermo Rodriguez (from the Jimmy Kimmel Show) was the uniformed security guard at the parking lot. He wouldn't let me get to my truck because it was north of the border...and we were south. This caused me some discomfort because I knew I didn't have my passport. I asked him how I got into Mexico without a passport and he laughed, saying "I don't know. It's your dream!"

I woke up tired. 😉

It can be hard to explain what influences dreams. A while back I woke up "knowing" that I had been dreaming in Polish. I don't know a word of Polish and have no idea what might have planted that suggestion in my subconscious.

For all of you that are convinced my dream was the result of something I ingested; you may be on to something. Sadly the only thing I nibbled on was a Hostess Ho-Ho before I went to bed, for purely medicinal purposes. It keeps my A1C levels elevated so my doctor will have job security.

Well that explains it, you have herpes. Stay away from them Ho's. 😉

Some good thoughts on what caused the dream, but I can't wait for @Kent McMillan 's official evaluation of its meaning.

The sanctioned training by the group of Texas surveyors I'm sure was going to involve a can of worms squirming around while they challenged you to measure the length of each one without individually picking them up and straightening them out to measure them. Probably doing some preliminary gps work for that.

You misunderstood your dream. Someone of a more observant eye, would have caught this. Fortunately, I just ran it through *Net, and it was obvious to any idiot. That was not the border line. That was just a blunder, in the raw data. When the declination of 17?ø42'39.884" was applied, to the bearing, you took, with your skewed line, it was north of the border. Now, dealing with the security guard, well just get 'im a bottle of 'is favorite jackrabbit juice.
Easy Peasy. No need to worry.
How did I do this? With some simple cheap Trimble 4700's, and a laptop.

Best Regards

"North of the Border"

So, basically, what your dream is saying is that you've heard it all before except for the higher-level stuff that Texas surveyors have to offer?

The border town setting indicates a liminal state, at the edge of the Unconscious, and suggests that some important content may yet arrive.

You had a psychotic incident when you learned that you had used your actual name and need to increase the amount of neurotic inhibitors to farther yourself from reality.

Sry, opps, I forgot, I am just a surveyor and should not dispense any random misguided medical diagnosis............

You were South of the Border because you were trying to breakdown a Section. The interpretation could be that you were trying to find order in chaos.
