The U.S. Senate approved a bill Tuesday that would make daylight-saving time permanent starting in 2023.......

Do any of the following apply to you?

Extra hour of sunlight you still wonƒ??t or will utilize

Reduces trash by eliminating need to throw out clock twice a year

May curry favor with the sun god Ra

One step closer to canceling winter completely

Wonƒ??t throw my back out resetting sundial anymore

Sure to irritate farmer or three

Dog will finally know when feeding time it is

Darker winter mornings will make it easier to sleep while automatic driving thing drives you to work

Much easier than trying to deal with that whole voting rights thing

I'd like it. No more change. I'm emotionally connected to those numbers on the clock.

From the internet....

"States would have the option of remaining on current standard time, but no state would be allowed to shift from one kind of time to the other during the course of a year -- they would have one or the other for all 12 months."

Just quit messing with time already...

I still think we should use UTC and let everybody set their office or store hours to suit.?ÿ It would make it so much easier for people who must deal with different time zones or countries.

We don't have a dog, but our cat is always on CST (Cat Stomach Time).

I'm gung ho for stopping the clock changing madness. Also for rounding transactions to the nickel, no more pennies. Dollar and 5 dollar coins. And <gasp!> metrification.?ÿ

Which is precisely why it should be done.

@mark-mayer?ÿ 25 or so years ago Georgia DOT decided to "Metrify" all plans.?ÿ Not allow both units, just metric.?ÿ We went out and bought metric tapes, rods, etc.?ÿ That lasted about two years until the contractors contacted their representatives, County Commissioners and?ÿ City officials put up a stink and the idea was killed.?ÿ We only prepared two sets of plans in metric and they were bid as such.?ÿ I was afraid that I was going to have to change all the numbers back to "English" and then check every number a dozen times to make sure they got changed correctly.?ÿ?ÿ

One of the first EDMs I ever used was a Kern DM501 that read only in metric.?ÿ I will always remember 3.2808333 feet per meter.

The problem is not the time on the clock, it is tradition.?ÿ Toss tradition out the window and start the day one hour earlier.?ÿ Banks that open at 9:00 would open at 8:00.?ÿ ?ÿCourthouses that open at 8:00 would open at 7:00.?ÿ Everything else should follow that pattern.?ÿ That is precisely what DST is all about, right?????

That glad handing and back slapping is going to come an hour earlier for them now.

Hope they know what they've gotten themselves into.

Quit complicating things, I'm still puzzled how to tell time now that the "11" on my Mickey Mouse wall clock is where the "12" should be and now his eyeballs no longer rotate. dammit ?????ÿ

Oregon DOT did it, too, at about that time. Pretty much the same thing happened.?ÿ

When I worked in Canada everything was metric - except house plans which were still in feet and inches because the building materials were manufactured and sold in feet and inches. So we had to go through the plans and convert the feet and inches to metric for stakeout. No biggie, really. Today we have to go convert all those feet and inches to decimal feet anyway.?ÿ ?ÿ

25 or so years ago Georgia DOT decided to "Metrify" all plans.?ÿ

It was a federal thing.?ÿ If a state wanted federal dollars for a highway project, it needed to be engineered in metric.?ÿ Just when everyone started to get used to it along came a new administration that decided to do away with it.

On a personal note, I measure everything in metric export to US or Internation feet as needed.

Back on topic of DST.?ÿ I'm glad they decided to stop the insanity of switching the clocks around.?ÿ I just don't understand why they listed to all of those belly ackers who want to be able to play outside longer after work and went with DST instead of standard time.?ÿ It might work well in the southern states, but up north kids will be walking to school in the dark for a substantial portion of the year and people who work outside will have to start later.?ÿ It is called standard time for a reason.?ÿ I guess we will have to change 'high 1300'.
