Did anyone take this in this weekend and what were your thoughts? Don't spoil any scenes but just was it good or bad. There might not be to many more Harrison Ford movies.
With Olivia Wylde in it, I find it hard to believe it could be a flop. 🙂
I never trust what reviewers say about movies. Some of my favorites have been flops in the awards categories and with the reviewers. I could almost ALWAYS count on Siskell and Ebert being totally off the mark.
Not bad, it was worth the matinee ticket price.
Thanks Blake. Got a real hot cutie pie that asked me to go tomorrow night and I was hoping it would get the evening off to a good start. And after the movie a big ol' brahms banana split!
I'm holding out for the Drive-in...looks like a great one for the Drive in and since we have one of the last in the country in Wellfleet... well...
I wish we had one left but they have been gone over 15 years. Too many trouble makers and the gang crowd. Always just a few that ruin it for everyone. I can remember the days of all night drive-in's with $3.00 a car load and no ones parents worried about us at all.
But tomorrow will hit nearly 115 again so it will still be over 100 by the time we go and I think the indoor facility will be much nicer.

"How many open drive-in theaters are there in the world, the US, and Canada today?
Currently there are 478 open drive-ins that we know of operating around the world. There are 370 in United States and 66 in Canada. At their peak in 1958, there were between 4000 and 5000 drive-ins operating in the United States. To get up-to-the-minute counts of open drive-in theaters by state, use the drive-in search tool.
What does the term Ozoner mean and where did it come from?
Starting in 1933, when the first drive-in theater opened, Variety magazine used the term Ozoner to describe an outdoor movie theatre in which the patrons view a film from their automobile. It can also be used to describe people that attend drive-in movie theatres"
I can remember going in the family four door sedan once and having a great time. The next morning the drive in speaker was laying on the kitchen table at breakfast. Woops! I guess I forgot to take it off before leaving.
Dad was not upset about that part. He just said take it back to them today but the part he questioned was why it was hanging from one of the back seat windows. Double Woops!
I took my 14 year old son this past weekend, we both enjoyed it. While I don't think it was Citizen Kane, I haven't seen Citizen Kane so that made no difference to me. It is a good combination of western and sci-fi. Good escapist movie.
Aliens.
Cowboys.
How could it possibly be bad?
Inquiring minds must know. Do you get a worthwhile look at her running around nekkid?

I had a friend in high school who's job on the weekends was to go around after the movie was over and tell everyone to leave. He said he saw some "strange" sights.

Yes, I'm quite sure his month held many more full moons that most of see. 🙂
An intersesting aspect to the marketing of this movie is the title, "Cowboys and Aliens", which of course refers to the kids game "Cowboys and Indians".
(Strange that it got turned around here....?)
However, some marketing research indicates that not a lot of the target audience (kids and younger adults) is familiar with the game.
Do kids these days still play "Cowboys and Indians"?
Only in our casinos and the cowboys always lose.
> Do kids these days still play "Cowboys and Indians"?
Growing up in the 70's we played FBI and the American Indian Movement
I saw it yesterday with my wife and we both enjoyed it. Note it is not a comedy or a satire, but a good old-fashioned cowboy movie...I mean a sci-fi movie. I mean...both I guess.
As to drive-ins: I don't know how many there are in the US, but the last three towns I have lived in have had them. The one here in Pueblo, CO has three different screens you can park in front of. There is still a Drive-in in Durango where I lived last. Half-way between here and there, there is one in Monte Vista, which has a motel at it also with all the picture windows of the rooms facing the screen, so you can watch the movie from your rented room if you don't use the drive-in seating. (I haven't been to it but only have driven by). There is still a drive-in in the town where I grew up as well. I bet there are 10 or 15 in this State.
Drive In Theaters
According to Drive-ins.com
There are still about 370 "open" Drive Ins in the US.
I'm pretty sure that the Statute of Limitations has run on all of my Drive In adventures!

Drive In Theaters
Drove past an empty lot near Anchorage once and the local crew chuckled and said it used to be a drive-in theater and it lasted less than a year. Took a few moments for me to think about seasons, sunlight and temp...
