I don't know if I ever told the story or not, but here's the Cliff Notes:
I applied and was hired at a welding shop that manufactured commercial handrails.?ÿ Most of them were round mild steel pipes of various designs.?ÿ I think I remember the place had a contract with the government.?ÿ Anyway we made lots of handrails.?ÿ I wanted to get into MIG & TIG but would have been happy just to burn rods on the everyday steel.?ÿ I started in the materials warehouse where we chopped the pipe into various lengths.
I noticed a girl I had gone to school with up in the front office.?ÿ Her name was Carrie Lee and she was as broad as a barn and looked similar to a mule.?ÿ I mentioned to one of the guys I thought I knew her.?ÿ Turns out her father owned the place.?ÿ She remembered me and we chatted in the hall a few times.
