Mine is an arc over a few days in the strip Get Fuzzy. If you're not familiar with Get Fuzzy, Rob, who works in marketing and is a geek, has two roommates/pets: Bucky Katt and Satchel Pooch. Satchel's a simple soul, easy-going, half-Lab and half-Shar Pei. Bucky is a Siamese who believes the world revolves about him.
That's probably how I learned to read--from comic strips and comic books. I can still remember how upset I was when my mom corrected my pronunciation of "sword" to "sord." "But that's not how it's spelled!!"
