This year daylight savings time begins on March 11th and runs until November 4th. ?ÿThat's basically 2/3 of the year. ?ÿSo DST isn't the exception, it's the norm. ?ÿ
I propose we change the clocks on the same date but instead of Daylight Savings Time refer the the four month period between November and March as either a) Darkness Savings Time or, b) Daylight Losing Time.?ÿ

Quit messing with the clocks!
Humans spent untold hours developing a machine with pointers (hands) that pointed straight up when the sun was pretty much at its highest point every day. Then we adjusted the day so that sometimes when the hands pointed straight up, the sun had not yet reached its highest point. Then we digitized the machine, eliminating the hands and the visual connection to the sun.
It's no wonder that the cable guy is always late.
Since moving clocks one hour this way or that has never really saved any daylight, I suggest that DST has always been a blatant case of false advertising.
It makes the most sense to me that we all be on Standard Time for our time zones, adjust start/quit times on a company-by-company or organization-by-organization basis if and as appropriate to the type of work or service performed.?ÿ And quit pretending we can change something that we can only screw with the seasonal perception of.

That was one of the very, very few things I liked about living in Tucson. No time changes!
I was cold last night.?ÿ Upon investigating the issue I found that my blanket didn't come up high enough.?ÿ So I cut a foot off of the bottom and sewed it onto the top.?ÿ Problem solved.
