With the recent influx of questions from the public, I've finally implemented something that's been on the back burner for a few years.

?ÿ

Ask A Surveyor

I've created a new forum called "Ask A Surveyor" -- but it's not like the other forums. This particular forum has a Q&A format, much like you would find at StackExchange. This allows members of the general public to post their questions, then (later) choose the best answer by clicking the checkmark next to the appropriate reply. Other members can also up- or down-vote other answers, to give our guest a better idea of which might be the best answer.

This forum also displays differently on the main Community Forums page, showing a summary of questions, answers received, and some other interesting statistics.

To start us off, I've moved the 3 most recent posts by non-surveyors to the new Ask A Surveyor forum. 🙂

In the future, I may consider implementation of some sort of member verification system. It wouldn't be anything like a full FBI background check, of course, but it could recognize licensed members as such so that non-surveyors have a better feeling of the validity of those responding to their questions. I understand that there could also be very knowledgeable members who are unlicensed, so I'm not sure if I will implement this sort of system or not -- I'm still pondering and thinking it through. Thoughts and opinions are welcome and invited.

I think this is a good idea, but would highly recommend a big ass disclaimer.?ÿ Also this could be a channel for finding a local surveyor for Joe Public.

I wondered off into one of those pages this afternoon and had an OMG moment until I saw that it was structured that way and did return to normal when I went to Recent Post.

Looked great after I zoomed out to let the page reveal itself.

good idea.
Does a visitor have to "sign up" to ask a question? ... I think it might be best to leave it open
as far as vetting Members, you need to start by requiring real names and direct contact for all. I get kinda tired of the trolls.

the up/down arrows could use some sort of legend or tool tip ... it was not at all clear that it is a "vote"

and, without a careful read of your opening post I would have no idea what is that Big check mark for.

Also, please don't be shy about asking them for contributions somehow...

There does not appear to be any link to the "Ask a Surveyor" forum from the Community Home page. I've cleared my browser caches in both Firefox and Internet Explorer, and neither browser shows a link to it from the home page.?ÿ A link shows up ( https://surveyorconnect.com/community/ask-a-surveyor/property-overlap-on-land-survey/) on the "Recent Posts" page.

Ask a Surveyor should be in a prominent spot on the front page ( https://surveyorconnect.com/), maybe replace the Whoƒ??s Online

I will be adding it to the menu system and the home page at some point. Right now, I'm dealing with an issue pertaining to why the numbers of posts are appearing as zero in most forums even though there are thousands of them.

Great idea. CLSA (California) has one also.
