I surveyed from 1976 'til 1984 working for the Fisher Company based in Houston, Tx. Tail chain to party chief. All kinds of 4-man crew work. I made plenty of good money working pipeline preliminaries, construction and as-builts 'til the early '80's downturn. The industry has certainly changed with use of the GPS and Robotics. It was the best job I ever had.
Welcome, Jim. You have found a gold mine. This place is loaded with information, whether you want it or not. Most of the questions and answers involve survey-related concerns but you might also learn how to change out a headlight on a 2008 Impala or build a rooftop water system for a home. We cover all the bases. Try to add as much as you take. We need all the new blood we can find. Some of us are getting a bit musty.
Welcome Jim! What have you been doing since then?
Jim, you have found the watering hole. Enjoy

Well out-of-town jobs were cut to 40hr week that good money was done. I went back to school and studied computer programming. I took a job as tech support at a software company and been in that business since.
