To any and all surveyors,

please keep an eye out for 2 stolen GPS receivers. Taken from the intersection of N.E. Air Cargo Way & N.E. 82nd Ave. in Portland, OR, on October 7th, 2014. They were in a yellow Pellican brand carrying case.

Receiver #1: Trimble R8 model 2 with serial number 4811147381

Receiver #2 Trimble R8 Model 3 with serial number 5042451307

Please call Jay Pannell 503-857-0935
or email [email protected] if anyone sees a really good deal on a couple of newer receiver.

Thanks for everyone's help.

That really sucks!

I will keep a lookout.

I would suggest that you email your chapter officers in PLSO to spread the word. It might be worthwhile to ask the PLSO executive secretary to email the membership.

I would also contact your local county surveyor to be on the look out.

I hope you get your gear back!

keep an eye on ebay and the criminal gathering place of craigslist. any distinct markings? the reason I ask is if it's stolen, internet sellers wont give out the serial numbers, and usually close the posting then cut and run if asked.

There is one on ebay for sell now with the starting price of $50.00, the seller has 0 feedback. when I see something like this I think it's stolen. And just because it's location is listed in Henderson, Kentucky does not mean it is, it could be sitting in a crackhead apartment down on Burnside.

Use searchtempest.com to do a national search, because the criminals move high value stolen property around. It could be quite awhile.

If you do end up seeing it on the internet for sell, don't contact the seller, just call the cops.

Everyone,

thanks for the replies to my post. Lots of helpful information on locations to get the word out to.

I finally got the call I'd been waiting for, from a gentelman in North Portland who happend to be in the right place at the right time. He picked up the equipment laying in the middle of N.E. 82nd ave. Deposited there from one of my employees more interested in lunch than securing the barn doors on the truck canopy.

Just when you think there is no good in the world.. Lost and found on Craigslist was the winning ticket.

$200 seemed like a paltry amount for me to pay as a reward. Considering the alternative to deductibles, increased insurance premiums and trying to replace the equipment for the great prices I'd acquired them for.

The man who picked up the case and did the right thing was estatic, to say the least.

Thanks again to all fellow surveyors who contributed.
