Here lately there have been a lot of threads come up that are really interesting. I'm fairly new to the site; is there a way to store or save certain threads for furture reference?
Please Comment - Suggestions??? Bacon
Thanks in advance!
Well, all threads are stored by Wendell on the site server(s), so there is probably no need to store them on your machine, so to speak.
If it were me, I'd save the link to my favorite threads in a "SurveyorConnect" sub-folder in my favorites.
There is also a button to receive an RSS feed for any thread - could be useful for the more active threads which pop up every few days.

:good:
Copy the text you want and save to a word editor program.
I usually post to the threads that I want to be able to find at a later date. On the old RPLS board I could search the threads by my user name and the word "find" and get the list of post I wanted to read again. I figured out a little late that this board does not let you search by user name. I'm still trying to figure out a better solution.
Maybe posting something like findforjames would give me something to narrow the search.

Hasn't been anything worth keepin' on this board since TDD was banned:-P 😉 😛 😉 😀

James, if you only want to see threads you've posted to just click on your user profile and you'll see an option to "show postings". Click on that and your entire history here will be there.
Exellent advice above. Special threads may be worthy of printing out and indexing in your paper files.

Does this help?
The suggestions in this thread so far are great! It really depends on the data you want to see and how you want to see it.
- The browser bookmark idea is a good one. You could create an SC folder and put interesting bookmarks there.
- Another thought is to check the "email notification" box every time you post; any replies to that post will cause a notification email message to be sent to you. Note that you will only be notified of replies to the post you set notifications on -- so let's say you check that box for a reply to another post... you will only be notified of replies to YOUR post, not the post you replied to. If you want notifications for the entire thread, the next option below is your best option.
- Using the RSS feed on a per-thread basis is a good way to stay informed of the status of any thread. Google Reader ( http://google.com/reader ) can help you keep track) of the threads here or anywhere on the web. So, let's say you want to subscribe to this thread... right-click the "RSS Feed of Thread" link at the bottom right of the thread and select "Copy link location" (or something similar to that depending on your browser), then go to Google Reader, login, click the Subscribe button, paste the URL into the Feed URL feed (right-click in the field and click "Paste" or just click in the field and hit CTRL+V), then click Add. It sounds complicated, but after you do it once, you'll see it's pretty straight-forward.
Great support thread! I have added it to our FAQ page.
I've used a pdf/print program (I use PDF995, but there's a bunch of them out there) to create pdf files of epic threads I want to keep around. Save it in my surveybeerleg subdirectory with a name like storing threads.pdf.

That still leaves 185 threads to go thru.
The way the search function worked on the old board, I would only get the post I made that had the word "find" in the post.
