Just to clarify, if I had not done so enough already, P&R is not coming back. Let me count the ways:
- Threatening emails are virtually non-existent
- I can concentrate on paying client projects
- Much less time is spent on moderation
- More time can be put toward marketing my business (and it's working)
- Traffic has increased significantly
- Advertisers are happy with the increased traffic
- Many, many emails have been received thanking us for turning it off
- There are more surveying-related threads than ever before
Today, I spent time delivering holiday food boxes to needy families in our area. One of those recipients gave me the following card:
Moderating P&R or receiving a card like the above... which would you choose?
Need I say more?
No you don't.
Works for me!
You are welcome 🙂
Thanks for all y'all do Wendell!

Wendell,
Color me dense. I'm new here. What is "P & R"?

I'll save Wendell from having to take the time:
P & R was "Politics and Religion" - a category where one could "discuss" either. It got way out of hand, as some did not discuss, but used it as a venue for attacks and rants.
It is gone.
Political posts snuck into other categories, and the poster is gone.
The bad vibes here on Beer Leg are gone.
I appreciate the effort it takes to keep this forum open. I have learned much, but don't post all that often. And it is amusing.
Wendell and Angel, and those that do post, thank you.
and, almost forgot, welcome to Beer Leg Dave.
Ken
Thanks, Doug and Ken.
I agree. A forum should stay focused on its topic.

Fundamentally I think the people who miss P&R fall into two camps: 1) jackasses who miss hearing themselves bray and 2) people who want your vision for Beer Leg/ Surveyor Connect to be the same as Mark Deal's vision for rpls.com. While, to be honest, I fall amongst the latter; neither is fair to you.
What Is Hard Without P&R ?
Is to fully discuss the tragic insanity in Connecticut without mentioning
"Go d versus Evil."

+1 James
I fully appreciate Wendell and Angels effort, however in several ways they are simply not equipped to fulfill the original vision many have shared with Mark since during the last century. Face it surveyors are a political bunch, a few even became President.
This is a new vision I guess...stuff happens stuff changes c'est la vie
Hugs everybody...
ps - Do you think a www.Tedleg.com would fly lol
Thank you Wendell
I would miss just a few perspectives of a few posters as stated before but it is worth it compared to reading the endless antics of another small group of posters diatribes and insults and other nonsense.
BL:
Maybe you can form a group of posters who can co-op and pay Wendell to create their own site to continue PnR. The link is above in the “services” tab. Then you could continue to discuss PnR. Maybe Wendell may give you a discount on site creation, hosting and advertising.
But I don’t miss it here now at all. There are the occasional ‘speeders’ who break the rule but I guess that’s expected.
It is kind of strange how this topic has been brought up again because one poster expressed his gratitude to W & A and anotherr seemed to be put off by it.
Thanks Wendell for all you've endured but clearly, it's the P that's banned while R, with frequent mention of Prayers, Angels and such, is alive and well . I'm not complaining . . just saying.;-)

Best move you ever made Wendell, other than selecting Angel as your better half.
Life is way too short to suffer the fools that haunted P&R.
Now you have time to concentrate on your life and your wife. B-) Do not waste one moment of that time. 😉
Actually, there were only a handful of fools, myself included. Most, I think, were reasonable adults; they just kept getting drowned out.:-)

Sounds good to me...He needs to concentrate on taking me to St. Louis for our next vacation. LOL!! B-)

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I tried a "P&R for Surveyors" site for awhile and nobody really went there because all the action was over here.
Angel?
That vacation would not just happen to coincide with the baseball season?
There is so much to see and do that you want to give it at least a week. Best plan around a homestand where you can see at least 2 other teams.
