I am not sure what catagory is best for field equipment questions/topics. Which one is recommended?

Yes, the main Land Surveying category would be most appropriate.

I agree - Land Surveying. Then just title the thread accordingly. Like I've always found polarized perscription glasses that darken and data collector viewing in bright sunlight a major PIA.

I could title the thread "viewing DC with polarized glasses". Or something. Then post the issues & questions in the body of the message. It would likely get hijacked, but somebody may have an answer, aside from just turning your body until you can read the dang thing like I've done since I got old enough to need to wear them all the time.

Or metal bi-focal frames pulling the compass needle when sighting through the vanes...

Sure makes it easier. My favorite thread subject line is" I have a question. I will usually avoid even opening threads with nebulous subject titles.
