All the post's I see on BL has several words with links now attached. How do I get rid of this? I'm talking the double lines under a certain word or name. When you drag the mouse over it a pop up window shows.

Any suggestions on how to get this gone?

Can you post a screen shot? I can't seem to picture the problem.

I have the same issue (or did) on my home computer. It came after I or one of my "dependents" loaded some sort of a toolbar or something in Internet Explorer.

Since I use Google Chrome, I don't see any more. What it is supposed to do is hyperlink that word to somebody's website. It was a total aggravation to me that was one of the contributing factors that caused me to abandon IE.

I never made a serious attempt to get rid of it other than just using a different browser.

Wendell,
I just emailed you a .doc. I haven't yet figured out how to post a screen shot here. Some have suggested I stop dropping things....:)

You have some sort of "helper" program such as a toolbar or plugin that will now bestow you with keyword ads in most of the pages you visit. This is at best crapwear, if not an out and out spywear/malwear. If you are using Internet Explorer, switch to something else. Firefox is susceptible to this type of infection so I don't use anything but Google Chrome.

Removal of said program can be very difficult. If you can figure out what it is calling itself, google '"insert name of crap here" removal'

Got it. It looks like you have something installed on your machine that is causing that. Since you are using Chrome, I would suspect some sort of malware. You should download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and run a full scan. You might also want to run a virus scan with your antivirus software.

I had the same problem. I was able to figure out the name of the program by putting my mouse over the underlined word. I then found it under the add/remove program list and just deleted the program.

"Crapwear"...I like that term. Fits that malware and spyware "crap" just right!!! 😉

Craig-

My way (not sure if it is THE way)of "Screen Shot" is to use Control (Ctrl) and PrtScn (top row at right side area)on the page you see.

Then go to a Word blank page and right click Paste

Then send it to young Wendell as an attachment.

Cheers

Derek

Thanks Wendell. It didn't but I appreciate the advice. This is going to cost me major bucks. I've decided to throw the damn thing out the second story floor window. As luck would have it I live a a one story house. After the closing (for the next home....two stories) I will post pics.

I ran Avast, and the malware software but to no avail. Even rebooted....I dunno. Perhaps a good night sleep and a different take on things might bring me to a solution. Althoughb not the end of the world...it's just dang aggravating.

Thanks to all who tried to help.

Ya gotta admit....BL is solid and rocks.

You can also; do as Derek suggests but paste it into Paint, or other program and save it as a jpeg or tiff.........

Cheers,
Radar

Craig, try Spybot. Sometimes Spybot will pick up stuff for me that malwarebytes doesn't get. I run it once a week in my weekly computer maintenance stuff. 🙂

Ok...after rebooting the problem stopped. I ran the software you posted and then took another look at what kept popping up. It was a banner for "Playing Sushi" (really it did...you simply can't make up stuff like that). I found 7 .exe files on the programs directory so I deleted all, ran the software, ran spybot and avast. It seems to have stoppe...for now.

Thanks Wendell Et Al.

How to capture the screen.

> "Screen Shot" ... use Control (Ctrl) and PrtScn ...
> Then go to a Word blank page and right click Paste

Actually, Alt-PrtScrn is what you usually need -- to copy the active window to the clipboard.

Ctrl-PrtScrn has the same effect as just PrtScrn which copies the whole screen to the clipboard -- often less useful than only copying the active window.
