Currently we can upload images and link them to a post, but there are times when it would be nice to add a link to a dwg, a kmz, or another type of file.

Could this feature be added to the site?

Another feature request: a link option to have the link open in a new tab or window. It's kind of annoying to click on a link and then have to navigate back to SurveyorConnect.

At least in Firefox, and I think in IE and maybe other browsers, you can right-click on the link and get a pop-up menu that will let you choose to "Open Link in New Tab" or "Open Link in New Window."

This issue was supposedly addressed almost a year ago. [msg=2179]Here’s the link[/msg] to the thread.

The instructions were as follows:

"If you want the link to open in a new tab/window, use the link button at the right of the message area when creating a post (highlight the URL in the message area then click the link button).

"If you don't want the link to open in a new tab/window, just put the URL in your message and do not use the link button."

Links worked that way for a while, then they quit working that way and no one seems to know why (or maybe they do and I missed the explanation).

I’m going to try it again. Here’s the same URL twice. I’m going to highlight the first one and click the link button. I’m going to leave the second one alone. Let’s see what happens.

Neither one opens in a new tab or window for me.

Also, you can automatically open a link in a new tab if your mouse has a scroll wheel. Clicking the link by pressing the scroll wheel opens the link in a new tab in most browsers. It acts as the middle button on a three button mouse.

Thanks DS. Didn't know that one.

FWIW, I can right click the link, and SELECT:

Or
