Good afternoon, I have a TSC1 controller with the Asset Surveyor system, it is already an old collectible, but in these times of isolation I have taken it out to try to update it to Trimble Survey and thus be able to use it with the TRIMBLE 5700-5800 GPS.
My question is:
Can I do this update?
I'm under the impression that they're two completely different applications, and that there never was an upgrade path from Asset Surveyor to Survey Controller.
Probably can't.?ÿ You might buy one that already has it on it IF you can find one that still works.?ÿ I have two TSC1's neither work.?ÿ I have two TSC2's both work but I basically gave them to a freind that uses them some.
Why bother? I have a TSCe that I used to use on a 5800/5700 system . I'll sell you it for cheap. There is a guy wanting to know if he can load Asset Surveyor on my old TSCe. Check out my post in the For Sale Community. You and he could get together and make each other happy.

I was told no, that the application software is locked to the hardware somehow and that it won't accept anything not originally installed.?ÿ I don't have independent verification of this, but what I did (many years ago now) with a TSC1 that had SC but a bad display was to buy a used one in good condition with Asset Surveyor and swap motherboards.
