Hello,

I have run into an issue that is making me scratch my head.

We have a project site with a permanent base station that uses a Pacific Crest ADL Vantage Pro as the base radio. We recently rented Trimble TDL 450Hx radios to use as a repeater to get coverage over distance and behind hills. The issue we are having is that the repeater turns on and works fine for a while, but then after about 30 minutes, the radio locks up- the Tx and Power lights go solid and it quits broadcasting/repeating. Cycle power to the radio and the same thing happens- it will work for about 30 minutes and lock up again.

The base radio is set up as a Base with 1 repeater. We have used different settings and baud rates (TrimMark3 @ 9600 and TrimTalk 450S @ 8000). Broadcast message is CMRx. The repeater is set to 2-watts transmit power. We get the same result no matter the settings.

Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe try another fully charged properly rated battery? Mine will do something similar if the battery gets too low.?ÿ

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

The only 2 things I know that make a Pacrest radio do that are overheating and battery voltage dipping below a certain amount when the broadcast signal goes out. Your battery might test OK without a load, but the Pacrest measures the voltage when it draws power to transmit. If the battery drops below 10v, or whatever the threshold is, the pacrest will stop transmitting. Use the lowest wattage to transmit that will still reach the repeater. This will mitigate heat building up in the radio.

Bad output section, likely the transistors.

if it's rented get them to replace, you're wasting time and money, not being critical, just had similar before.?ÿ

good luck.
