I have always had L2C turned on in my units. Never thought it would be detrimental.

Over the years I occasionally submit data to OPUS. I sometimes get occupations rejected for no apparent reason, with a cryptic error message like "data too noisy", etc.

I recently found out that if you have L2C turned on in Trimble gear (at least on the R8 model 2), then P2 is NOT collected. OPUS-RS NEEDS P2, and will not use L2C. So, it appears to OPUS-RS that you do not have enough dual frequency data. Of course, not all sats have L2C, so for those that do not P2 is collected.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I have seen that error from R8-2s in the past, now I know why. Sounds like one reason why we need MORE CHANNELS are arh arh (Tim the tool man there).

Yes - discovered that recently as well - R8's Model 1. We had the base set with L2C on and the rover set with L2C off. We'd run sets for OPUS and the rover would always come back good and the base would frequently have issues. Took us a while to figure out what was different with the 2 receivers (still not sure how they got set different), but now that we have them both with L2C off we're getting good results.

I think you mean when L2C is collected, P2 is not collected for that receiver.

If I recall correctly the online teqc will merge L2C into the P2 column, or I may have done the swap myself. Doing so with the regular teqc has been requested and is being considered.

NGS had a similar problem with some CORS data not being used in OPUS-RS. Thjat may have been corrected in the receiver setup. Make a request to Trimble, they may already have fixed it in newer firmware.

For years OPUS-RS has substituted C1 for P1 if P1 was not available. As best as I can determine that is done in the teqc filter before passing the files on to RSGPS.

That's what we were seeing when we looked at the data reports. With L2C off we'd get 4 nice neat columns. With L2C on we'd get 5 columns where there would be blank spaces in one and filled in next to it and visa-versa. It of course depended on which satellite was being received and which data was being sent / received.

I checked my RINEX folder, and find that I merged them, not teqc.

Mark Huber at the Army Corps of Engineers I believe has the request.
