For all the Trimble guru's out there.....is there a difference in the 5800's where one just has trimble on the radome cover and some have trimble 5800 on the cover? Just curious if one is a latter version with more resources....

The only real difference would be indicated by the part number on the bottom of the receiver.
in terms of the cap, there really isn't a huge difference. The GPS only receivers (5800 & R8 Model 1) cover is smaller than the R8 Model 2,3,4 due to the GLONASS capabilities of the later.
