We recently picked up a Topcon Legacy to use as a base. It works fine as long as you only run it one day without cleaning it out.
Now that it is no longer supported we cannot get unlock codes for additional blocks of memory. It would be great to leave files on until processing and set the data rate to 5 seconds...

I do not think that it is accurate that you cannot purchase options for an older Topcon receiver.

Memory is sold in increments. If your receiver has the standard 4 Mb, to go from there adding and additional 4 Mb to go to 8 Mb total is $250.

To go from 8 Mb to 16 is another $250.

I inquired at the dealer and got nowhere. I sent an email to Topcon with the same result. The customer service from Topcon is the worst in the industry. ..

Jerry is a dealer, or the company he works for is (Hayes Insrtument Co). They were owned by Topcon, don't know about now. He can sell it to you.

Hayes has a great reputation. I may give them a shot at it. My frustration is primarily with Topcon. We purchased a new system and Magnet software a while back. We paid the subscription for support and Topcon University. I sent in a list of bugs (version 1) and some requests for instructions for things the software was advertised to do. I got a string of insulting crap replies. Now they don't even reply. Yes I am frustrated and yes I call them on it every chance I get...

I see that Topcon has not changed their ways. I remember commenting when they first converted Topcon University into a paid service that they'd have to step-up their level of support immensely for it to be worth a fraction of what they were asking.

A few years ago I bought an addn 4mg for a quite old receiver for $500 per 4mg block.

at 5 sec record rate you will fill her up in about 7.5 hrs average.
