After giving up in frustration when trying to add antenna models -- particularly the Javad Triumph-LS and Triumph-2A -- to my out-of-warranty version of TBC, I decided that perhaps the configuration update utility doesn't work unless the license is current. So I bit the bullet and shelled out $1,500 to reactivate my warranty and upgrade to TBC v3.4, thinking that I'd get all the antenna models included in the NGS/IGS ANTEX files. But alas, the Triumph-LS and Triumph-2A are still absent.

The TBC Help file says:

> Trimble Business Center will load APC correction models for the base and rover antennas from the NGS ANTEX file ngs_antennas.atx.

The ngs_antennas.atx file *does* have the Triumph-LS and Triumph-2A entries, but they're not showing up in the antenna dropdown during data loading even when NGS absolute models are specified for the processing.

I have email in to tech support, but in the mean time I'm wondering if anyone with a current TBC install can see these Javad antenna entries when you load data.

If it helps this is version 2.93
I don't see either the LS or 2A listed under any of the three different Javad Manufacturer options.

I am currently running v3.30 and they do not show up there either.

FWIW, I always get an error message along the lines of "Invalid antenna specified" when I import anything with my 4800; however the data always seems to process fine. It's almost as if part of the software doesn't recognize what is going on with the antenna database, but the baseline processor always uses the correct info anyway. Am wondering if the two items with the antenna database are related...

I emailed our local rep about this a while ago, but haven't heard anything.

I am currently running 3.40 and it doesn't show those antennas. I have contacted my Trimble service guy. Hope to hear back from him soon on what Trimlbe is doing on this matter.

Despite a number of configuration and version updates from Trimble, I've been unable to use the NGS absolute antenna models when processing data from my Javad Triumph-LS, so today I decided to dig into the details again. Persistence pays! After picking through a bunch of files on both the NGS site and deep within the guts of my TBC installation, I found the glitch. It consists of a single character in a single file.

In the antenna.ini file -- which is typically found in "C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesTrimbleConfig" -- the section for JAV TRIUMPH-LS shows the IGSAntenna value as JAVTRIUMPH_LS, but it should be JAVTRIUMPH_LSA. Once I added the missing "A", saved the file and restarted TBC, I was able to use the NGS absolute model for occupations with the Triumph-LS.

Any luck with the Triumph 2? Interested to see the outcome of this.

Trimble managed to fix this one themselves after I pestered them about it. They "fixed" the Triumph-LS in the same update, but missed the critical "A" in the process.

Note that the Triumph-2 shows up in the TBC dropdown list as TRIUMPH-2 rather than TRIUMPH_2A, just as the Triumph-LS appears as TRIUMPH-LS instead of TRIUMPH_LSA. The "A" designation was added by NGS to indicate that the 25 mm adapter is not accounted for in the antenna model, and must be added to the ARP height if used.

Jim: why aren't computers smarter? We can figure that out in an instant by looking at it and seeing the missing "A".

That is what distinguishes us from computers. For how much longer, I don't know.

I have struggled a lot in the past with getting TBC to use the NGS models, but it seems to work fine now in the more recent versions. I think they should have an "update NGS (or IGS) model" built in to their automatic update. I don't even know why they would want to be bothered making their own models.
