Does anybody use one of these?

http://www.tigersupplies.com/Products/Sokkia-GCX3-GNSS-Receiver__SOK1017273-01-.aspx

I currently use a Geomax Zenith 25 Pro. I like it, and I don't have any problems with it. I just thought this one looks cool and looks like it would be very easy to wield atop a gps pole since it isn't much wider than the pole. It seems like it's kind of cheap which has me a little concerned about the quality.

@leegreen He has them, and uses them.

I have been interested, ever since they came out... I suspect we may see "Micro GPS" in the future.
Smaller and lighter... I like it!

Dan,

Yes, I have the GCX2. Thinking of getting two of GCX3 with the added constellations. I have a client in Long Island using the GCX3, works great iwth NYSNET network GNSS. Also good for static control. Can carry all four of these in your pocket.

They haves 8Gb memory for static. 10 hour battery. Charges with a mini-USB chord. Works best as a network rover. The bluetooth Longl Link BaseRover range is just 1000ft radial. I have recently paired one of mine with a Satel Bluetooth to UHF radio, and it works as a Rover with my Hiper V UHF as a base.

The web ad is deceiving you. It is not as cheap as appears on the web site. At the base price of $5895, it is a brick and virtually useless. You will need to add about $3000 in upgrades to make it usefull. Options are Galileo, BDS, Long Link, Network, Static

Go to this link the select Uprgade pull down menu.

Ah! I see. It is a $2,650 upgrade to make it into a network rover only. What field software do you run it with? Presently I use Carlson. I haven't yet checked to see if it is an option under receivers.

I don't have one but would like to. Currently have a sokkia grx1 and having no problems with it for over 6 years now. Still going strong.

Looks ideal for hybrid measuring, although i've already familiar with the weight of prism, gps and juniper.

I use Topcon Magnet Field software on a Windows 10 Tablet PC.

I just booted up my collector. The GCX2 is listed but the 3 doesn't come up in the drop down.

You may be able to use the GCX2 config for both receivers. The only difference is the added constellations BDS and GALILEO.

Topcon rep here said to wait with Galileo, gps and glonass will be sufficient enough for the time being. That's for my region of course.

I agree. When I tested the HR a few weeks ago, I saw only 3 GALILEO, and 2 BDS.

What made the biggest improvement was L5 signal. Unfortunately L5 is not supported in the Gcx3.

My Gcx2 receivers can see L2C signal. Lot's of SV's with this.

It is very difficult to purchase "future proof" equipment these days. When I purchased Topcon Hiper V's a few years, Topcon advertised:
The Vanguard Technology integrated into the HiPer V and HiPer SR receivers connects to 226 GNSS channels and also supports GPS,
GLONASS, Galileo, and Compass signals with different options for internal radio, cellular, and Bluetooth communications.
The full UHF radio in the HiPer V gives it a long range of up to two miles with L1/ L2/
L5 triplefrequency signal support.
"

Topcon has since backed away form that promise, and now state the Hiper V will not support L5, Galileo and Compass(BDS).

Rtk accuracy will also not improve with more systems, only better reception under canopy. Galileo isn't yet implementeer in our rtk system (flepos) and it's a European system.
