This is an interesting solution. I have come to a conclusion that using my own base is the only way to go. Even in a state with a heavy CORS network and reliable VRS/RTN and good Cell Service like NC.?ÿ

Here is how I roll with RTK using SurvCE and Carlson Survey. Setup my base on a known or unknown point on my site where I can keep an eye on it.?ÿ Setup Base with Local Coordinates (10,000, 10,000, 100 --assumed Coordinates), create Localization File. Use same controller/DC for Rover and Setup Rover. If I am using two Rovers, I use a thumb drive to copy the Localization file from DC1 to DC2. I pull a tape or use a rod to set a Nail 25 Feet from the Base Point, trying to keep it on the same plane if possible. I shoot the Nail with each rover and check to see the 25-ft offset from the base and difference in height. If there are known points such as NGS marks or my own within a mile of the area, I will shoot a couple of them to check later when back in the office.?ÿ I use one of these DCs for my Total Station where needed. I will revisit the site on the second day for an additional static session. I average those solutions after all data are available, then Edit the Localization File on my DCs with the average of the two solutions from OPUS and reprocess the Raw Data. If I have Total Station Data, I process the GPS/GNSS data on my PC then Process my Raw Data Without Adjustment to apply the GPS/GNSS Coordinates to my Total Station Data.?ÿ

My Static Sessions are typically a little more than 1-Hour. That is a new field technique I recently adopted based on information I obtained directly from a programmer of OPUS. I learned from him that I had glossed over a page on the OPUS site, OPUS Rapid Static Precision and Availability ( https://www.ngs.noaa.gov/OPUSI/Plots/Gmap/OPUSRS_sigmap.shtml ). Here you can find the Predicted Precision for a specific location or region for Rapid Static Sessions of 15-min or 1-hour, for both Horizontal and Vertical). For most places I work, a 1-hour Rapid Static Session/Solution approaches 1 cm accuracy in the vertical plane and 0.5 cm in the horizontal plane. That's pretty dang good where I come from, and better than what I typically get from VRS/RTN. The second session does add time, but I like the redundancy.?ÿ
