Hey everyone,

I just joined this forum. Everytime I run into issues/problems it seems like half the time my google search leads me here.

Is Opus functioning normally for everyone else. I have been trying to submit data from July 2,3,7 and 8 the past 3 days with very little luck. No luck Wednesday or Thursday. I have 15 sessions, all with around 3-4 hours worth of data. This morning and early afternoon i have been able to get a solution on 7 of the sessions. I am not even getting an error message. I hit up load to static and it just starts trying but eventually times out. Im just wondering if anyone else is having trouble or if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks.

You're doing something wrong.

Quick reply, but I just attended a 1 1/2 day seminar sponsored by NGS for OPUS Projects. Very comprehensive in what OPUS will and will not do for you. And the new NGS OPUS Projects product (edit: tool) is very powerful in it's own regard, regardless of your project size or scope.

I would highly recommend any OPUS user to attend the OPUS Projects seminar that will be available in an area by you. Even if you are a small user of OPUS (such as myself), this short seminar will provide you with information that you will never obtain trying to either learn it on your own behalf, or asking this forum.

The NGS sponsored OPUS Projects is well worth the time and very limited expense to attend. The seminar is free, so your only expenses are travel. Don't think about it - just GO!

If you want to send me one of the files you're having trouble with at ldrennan AT mphinc DOT com I'll be happy to see if I can figure anything out for you. Include the antenna type/height if you do.

I have had problems with long 8 or more hour 1 second epoch files. I use TEQC to thin the to 30 second files if I have a timeout. Another thing I have done is to use 7 zip to zip multiple files with thee same antenna and HI into a zip file, then upload the zip file. OPUS seems to give zip files a high priority.

You may be doing something with post-processing that I don't, but I've never found a reason to collect 1 second data at the base. 5 second covers everything that we do quite well, even post-processed topo data.

Browser issues will become more and more of a problem as everyone is promoting continuous upgrades. If you are having download trouble, let us know what you are using and which OPUS address you are sending to.

Back in the slow internet days, I parsed my OPUS submissions to 30 seconds to save myself download time. As fast as internet is becoming it is being overcrowded and some actual service is becoming slower. You may want to become familiar with teqc for RINEX file editing. OPUS may parse your file as it comes in before processing but a backup in data to them may slow that process down.

I am sending the data to http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/OPUS/. I was thinking my browser might be giving me trouble I usually use IE version 9. So I tried using chrome, same problem. I am going to down load teqc and start using that to thin out the data.

Thanks for the input.

:bored: A fellow poster here, Mark Huber, has written a front end for TEQC That simplifies trimming and thinning RINEX files. It is available at teqc.silkwerks.com. I use it quite often
