The USNGS has been performing site surveys at locations with multiple geodetic sensors. The report linked here: http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/corbin/iss/reports/FortDavisSiteSurvey.pdf describes a recent survey at the McDonald Observatory and Ft Davis National Radio Observatory in west Texas near Ft Davis, Texas.
Btw, visiting the site is certainly worthwhile. Take the tour of the optical telescopes. They have organized viewing events using "small" telescopes. The skies here are wonderfully dark.
Consider staying at the historic Paisano Hotel in Marfa, Texas where the cast of the movie Giant stayed...
Also the Washington site report include some nice photos including the French satellite system DORIS.
Enjoy,

Yes, visiting the site is a highly recommended.
My oldest Son went to School In Alpine (Sul Ross University) for 2 years and Janice and I found ourselves visiting about once a month.
Very unique area with a lot of interesting things to see and do.
Marfa seems like you have stepped out of some time machine.
The weather might be the most pleasant year round in Texas and whoever is the local surveyor around these parts has my utmost respect.
It pretty dang rough here.
Janice and I are thinking of going back one more time soon.
